David Heath brings with him extensive experience over many years in leadership roles, both nationally and locally.
David was initially an NHS optician and served on the Somerset Local Optical Committee before moving into politics and was a leader of Somerset County Council.
After a period as Chair of the Avon and Somerset Police Authority, he then became a Member of Parliament and Deputy Leader of the House of Commons.
Since retiring in 2015 from party political activity, he has taken on a number of regulatory roles, including being a board member for the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Consumer Council for Water.
David is a Statutory Lay Member of the Governing Body. He also chairs the Primary Care Commissioning Committee.
David is also a Freedom to Speak up Guardian for the CCG. Freedom to Speak Up Guardians give independent support and advice to staff in the CCG to raise any concerns they have.
