Trudi has gained a wide breadth of experience in health protection and the promotion of health and wellbeing, having a particular interest in the social issues that influence health such as housing, employment and educational attainment. She is a strong advocate for promoting health and wellbeing and tackling the issues of social injustice that lead to inequalities in health. During her time working within public health, Trudi has led a national programme of work to raise the profile of physical activity and its impact on mental health, culminating in the agreement and publication of a National Consensus Statement on Physical Activity and Mental Health.
Trudi Grant is Director of Public Health, employed by Somerset County Council, with statutory responsibility for the improvement and protection of the health of local residents. Trudi is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health of the Royal College of Physicians and registered under the UK Public Health Register. She has worked in public health for 25 years. She has held a Consultant in Public Health post since 2008 and was appointed as Director of Public Health in 2012.
