Coronavirus – Dental services in Somerset
Because of coronavirus (COVID-19), all routine dental treatment has been stopped at the moment.
If you think you need urgent dental treatment:
- call your dentist
- use the NHS 111 online service if you cannot contact your dentist or you do not have one
They can give you advice, help you contact an urgent dental service or arrange treatment if needed.
Do not contact a GP. They cannot provide dental treatment.

Urgent dental care services
Across every NHS region local Urgent Dental Care (UDC) clinics are being created to provide care for people with urgent and emergency dental problems.
How do I access these urgent centres?
If you have an urgent or emergency dental condition you must not attend any clinics as you will need to be triaged first. This system also helps manage the flow to centres and avoid queues (in line with social-distancing measures).
Registered patients – If you have a dental practice and use it regularly you should contact your dentist by phone to seek a referral. All NHS dental surgeries should be accessible by phone, even though their doors are shut. Out of usual surgery hours, please use the NHS 111 online service
Unregistered patients – If you don’t have a dentist you should call the Somerset Dental Helpline on 0300 123 7691 or email dentist4u@sompar.nhs.uk
